normaly they are just only 50cc. but than they put a 70cc athena AJH cilinder on it mostly because they have a huge amount of power. some guys use the 65cc polini cilinder.

then there are some water cooled bikes that use a piagio engine and add a other cilinder on it (hebo, mallosi ore something els:D)

and there is *hank* that is completly differend:D he uses parts from a lot of other engines:D (yes i know thats weird).

There are different ways to tune your Puch Maxi 2 stroke engine. When these left the Puch factory they should not exceed the 1 hp (for country's like Holland). This 1 hp is not enough for a serious minibike and most people will add another cylinder, cylinderhead, caburator and exhaust. The easyist way is to mount a cylinder with more displacement. The maximum displacement is approx 70 cc. More is possible, but then you have to rework your crankcase.

With an inner rotor ignition and standard off shelf parts, a performance of 7-8 hp should be possible. When you have some tuning experience you can get more then 10 hp out of this Puch engine.

The major difficulty is to get a balance between good accelaration and high speed (=hosepower), because the Puch engine has a fixed transmission with only a friction clutch.
